MARK Awards Grant to Support Wrexham Outreach Team

We are incredibly proud to announce the award of a £2,400 community grant to the Wrexham Outreach Team, helping to secure the future of their vital weekly food provision for people experiencing homelessness.

Founded nine years ago by a husband-and-wife team, Wrexham Outreach Team has grown into an extraordinary volunteer-led operation. What began as a small act of kindness has become a fully coordinated outreach service, supported by a dedicated group of volunteers including cooks, hairdressers, A&E and mental health nurses, a chiropodist, and a local vicar.

Every Wednesday evening, the team can be found in Wrexham town centre, offering hot meals, personal care packages, and essential services to around 35 homeless people. Their work goes far beyond food — providing dignity, human connection, and practical support to some of the most vulnerable members of the community.

Despite receiving recognition through numerous awards, the outreach team operates without regular major grants or ongoing funding. While local businesses and supermarkets occasionally donate ingredients, much of the cost is often covered personally by the volunteers themselves.

The £2,400 grant from M.A.R.K will cover the annual cost of the food they provide, allowing the team to focus their energy and resources on expanding and strengthening other areas of support.

This grant is made possible through the generosity of the biking community and reflects M.A.R.K’s commitment to reinvesting funds directly into grassroots initiatives that make a tangible difference.

These volunteers are true unsung heroes — and this support ensures their incredible work can continue, week in and week out.

Together, we are strengthening the communities we live in.
